Pretty On The Outside

My oh my..... photographer Frank Louis has outdone himself.

Back in January '08 I stumbled across some beautiful photos of former Project Runway contestant Jack Mackenroth taken by Frank Louis.  Truly stunning pictures.  There was one image in particular that especially called to me and I answered by doing a pen and ink version which you can see here.  Scroll down for that drawing.  In that posting, I included a link to Frank's photography site.  I believe it was the very next day when after noticing a number of hits coming from my site, that Frank sent me a very nice thank you email.  We've exchanged many messages since and he was even kind enough to participate in my Prop 8 Portrait series.  You can see the ink painting I did of Frank here. 
I check his site often and it was only a few minutes ago that I saw the cover of DNA Magazine which he shot.  Here's a partial glimpse.

It was like a bolt of lightning had shot through my right eye and then out the left and temporarily blinded me.  It was like looking at a solar eclipse.  Sweet, sweet Jesus.  To see the full image (my apologies to Frank for the cropping by the way) please click here.  The guy is wearing shorts, that is to say--- he's working some shorts, in the link so I believe it's safe for work.  However..... there's no mistaking he's a man when you see the full shot.  God in heaven!  It's maybe NSFR, which means not safe for relationships.  I've already committed mental adultery with that model.

Fun New Blog Alert!

My blog buddy Jason O'Malley just launched his second site which is called, The Rural Modernist * diary of a backwoods design junkie.  It's so fresh that it still has that new blog smell.  Click over and take a whiff--- the scent is good!  You most likely know Jason from his hilarious pop culture poking blog Doodlewhore, from his greeting card company, or you certainly have seen his illustration work as it is everywhere.

So here I give you my perspective as The Rural Modernist: an illustrator and greeting card peddler living two hours north of New York City in the Catskills with his boyfriend and dog, listening to The Smiths and Madonna while rearranging the furniture, surfing the net for more crap, scavenging through barns and tag sales, watching bad t.v., and keeping the bears out of the bird feeder.

BELLO mag. Summer Issue.

The 3rd issue of BELLO mag is online and ready for your viewing pleasure.  In my fantasy world, which is where I usually am, I'd like to put on a pair of snug, square cut swimming trunks which would look unbelievably great on my gymnast/ swimmers/ underwear model's build, and then jump right into the spread on Rio.  Oh... to fantasize.  Definitely check out the Rio spread and you'll want to do the same.

I was checking my sitemeter this morning and saw hits coming in from DNA Magazine's blog.  I'm a HUGE fan of that magazine and was very flattered my Hugh Jackman and his "trainer" photos made in onto their blog.  Have a look at that posting with my photoshopped fun here.

More German Love

The German magazine YAM! for the second time has run one of my illustrations.   This time my Lindsay Lohan Freckled Felon got some German love.  Danke Schon to my friends at YAM! 

Part of me would like to think that I'm a huge star in the world of German illustration.  That part of me, of course, needs to be put in a mental asylum.  :)

My New Tattoo

I would hope by now you are all familiar with the insanely funny site PlanetHiltron.  If you aren't, please do yourself a huge favor and check it out.  If you are aware of that site then you know the talented artist was on a bit of a break while their server was being upgraded.  PlanetHiltron is now back up to speed and going full throttle.  The site is pee your pants, fall off your chair, spit on your monitor funny.   
I like it so much that I got a lower back, tramp stamp, tattoo in its honor.   

Pretty Tees and more..................

It can be exhausting trying to keep track of which celebrity is in rehab and for what reason.  I thought there should be some sort of parting gift for those who didn't quite learn the lesson.

Austrian Love

The Austrian paper Die Neue Zeitang fur Tirol did at write up about my site which ran this past Saturday the 4th of August.  I don't speak the language but I'd like to think this article says that my site is hilarious and that I look good for my age.  :)

German Love

I would like to send a great big Danke Schon or Thank You to my friends at the German magazine YAM!  My Paris Hilton Inmate Heiress illustration ran in their May 23rd issue.  I am so thrilled and grateful for the international press I've gotten recently.

Irish Love

My Paris Hilton ankle bracelet illustration ran in the June 10th issue of the Irish newspaper The Sunday Tribune.  I'd like to send a special thanks to them for the Irish love and support.  Much appreciated!  I will now toss back a few bottles of Guinness to celebrate.  Cheers.
