Artwork on vinyl albums

Just uploaded two items to my etsy shop.  I was in a paint on everything 

mode so I busted out some acrylic paint and covered the surface of two 

vinyl records.  One is a mix of colorful faces and the other is a black and 

white combination of faces and scrolling details.  Both are coated with

a mat polyurethane and are for sale.  Click here for more info.  Also, I'll 

be adding more items to that shop so if there's one of my drawings or 

paintings you like, please let me know.  One more thing.... if you don't

Bethenny Frankel + Chelsea Handler. Painted.

A little more show and tell... This was a commissioned painting of Bethenny Frankel on Chelsea Handler's show. Every aspect of the photo was as the client requested. My apologies though... this is an iphone photo. Acrylic on a 24" x 18" canvas.

Purple Poppies painting

This is an oil painting I recently finished.  It's 13" x 13" painted on a wooden panel.  So much of my work both for pay and for fun is rather tight.  Working in this more loose/ painterly style is freeing and very enjoyable.  Hope you'll like.

Jon Kortajarena drawn and painted by me!

I'm a big fan of watching anything time-lapsed: flowers growing in seconds, structures being built in a minute, the polar ice caps melting in under 60 seconds, but my favorite is seeing artwork being created in that format.  It's with that in mind that I made the following video of me painting a portrait of actor/ model Jon Kortajarena.  He had a very important scene in Tom Ford's film A Single Man where he played Carlos the would be actor/ hustler/ my imaginary boyfriend.  Jon is a lean piece of heaven.  Hope you'll enjoy my clip..........

Plastic Surgery Fairy Painting

This is a painting I recently finished.  It measures 19" x 13" and was completed with gouache and watercolor on hot press watercolor paper.  It's one of a series that explores several of my interests: Plastic Surgery, Japanese watercolors, and glamour gone wrong.  Expect to see more Plastic Surgery fairies in the coming weeks.  You can purchase a print here.   

Meet Teddy. The Fashion Bear.

I love a gay bear.  I do.  They generally aren't too concerned with carbs or fat content.  They generally aren't burdened with body hair grooming and some of the fussier styling traps a lot of gay men get caught up in.   And generally they aren't walking the fashion runways and catwalks  around the would.  Praise be Vivian Westwood who featured this stunning bear in her show.  (I'm applauding right now.)  I absolutely love it.  The model has yet to be named so I'm calling him Teddy.  The Fashion Bear.
I prefer Teddy in the above outfit, but now that he's made it into the elite world of modeling, he'll probably have to wear some silly fashionable outfits.

Here's Teddy in one of the more ridiculous swimsuits I've seen in a while.

I'd like to asked Alexander McQueen what the heck is going on with this suit?  Is it a woman's swimsuit on backwards?  Is it a court ordered suit for guys who've been charged with public nudity?  Is it a new suit for the Olympics?  Or is it just ugly?  Probably just good old fashion ugly.

I guess it's for guys who have a butler fetish?  Or.... or.....  ?????....... I suppose it's the answer to the question What do you get someone for has everything?  As chances are they don't have that outfit.

I hope we see more bears on the catwalk.  I think it's a wonderful step in the right direction.

OMG! You Look Great!

Hey everyone.  My regular readers may have noticed that I've been posting a little less than usual.  I'm working on some new drawings and paintings for an upcoming show and that's been my main focus.  I will certainly continue to do my Tivo/ wine drawings and some pop culture illustrations as well, but expect to see more original artwork over the several weeks.

Plastic Surgery Party Painting

I've been working on this party painting over the last few days.  It contains a several of my fascinations: plastic surgery, glamour gone wrong, and fancy soirees.

Something a little different.......

I was rummaging through my guest bedroom closet early this morning and opened a box that has been sealed for years.  Inside that box I found some old sketch books and two- three ring binders full of magazine tear outs organized into clear plastic sleeves.  In one of the sketchbooks, besides a variety of doodles and half finished drawings, were all sort of crazy quotes I written.  So I'm showing here some of those full of photos sleeves exactly as I found them and digitally placed some of my quotes here and there.....

I also went through a stint about twelve years ago where I'd take some "gay literature" or porn photos as you'd call them and painted women's clothing onto the guys.  There was something about their Hustler-ish poses that seemed to call for that. I also drew funny cartoonish heads on them.  I unfortunately painted onto those photos with gouache and over the years, the paint had all but flaked off the originals.  So I did some new digitally colored images on a few of those photos I found this morning.

I added some nutty quotes to a couple......

I'm enjoying a bit of break from the insane world of celebrity.  Will be back soon.
