Rupaul's Drag Race season two made its triumphant return last night and it was well worth the wait. It's a decadent reality TV parfait made of equal parts: Project Runway, Top Model, and Glitter. And I loved every single sparkly second. In my humble opinion, it blows all other reality TV shows out of the water. Loves it. Clearly they have a bigger budget this season and also a testimony to the shows popularity is the roster of guest celebs this season. Kathy Griffin guest-judged last night and was as funny as you'd hope.
Not sure which contestant is my favorite just yet...... there's too many to pick from. One of the gals Sahara Davenport instantly reminded me of Real Housewife of Atlanta SheRee Whitfield. :) Here's what I'm talking about.......
He-SheRee I think looks more masculine than Sahara actually. If I had no idea who these two were, I'd guess SheRee (on the right) was the drag queen. Silly, silly stuff.
I have a painting of the contestants in the works which hopefully I'll have finished by the end of the week. In other art drag-related news, you can click here to see the only posting I did from last season's Drag Race. I drew my favorite Nina Flowers out of drag. You can also click here to see lots and lots and lots of drawings of He-SheRee and the other ATL housewives. If your interest is peaked in my artwork, you can browse my etsy shop for some prints and originals.
******UPDATE****** I'm adding this a day after the original posting. As I mentioned, I'm working on a painting to welcome back this beloved show. I have a sneak peak of the painting in progress. It's ink and graphite on arches paper.
