Martinique is back!
Finally, finally, finally I received some new photos of my nine year old nephew's mannequin, Martinique. Hooray!!!!! I know you can't rush the creative process, but I sure did try. I've been sending encouraging texts, via my sister's phone, in hopes of sparking something. He's been busy with a new school, anticipating Halloween, and unfortunately he hasn't been feeling well for a while. My sweet friend Amy put together a care package which consisted of a bobbed black wig with blunt bangs and a sequin covered tank. It arrived Saturday and did the job. Thanks Amy!
Here's Martinique in a devastatingly stylish ensemble which my nephew titled Fab. Those are American Girl dolls in the foreground and he has a total of four. And a ton of accessories, outfits, a beauty salon set up, a horse, and countless other doodads and thingamajigs that go along with The American Girl cult. My nephew has been collecting and cherishing those dolls for the last several years. It should be noted when he got Martinique several months ago there was some tension in the home. Seems the dolls were jealous of the new statuesque object of interest. The dolls were packed up and have been collecting dust since Martinique's arrival. It's nice to see they are all getting along now. :)
I couldn't resist trying on the sparkle tank before sending it along to my nephew. And I have to ask.....
The answer, of course, is Martinique.
I was also graced with an additional photo of Martinique in a random outfit as my nephew labeled.
Modern, youthful, kicky! Job well done. I had a little photoshop fun with the image on the right. I feel Martinique would agree with the t shirts I recently created in response to Sarah Palin's love of killing moose. Click here to see those shirts and remember to buy, buy, buy!!!!!
I do hope this wave of creativity continues and I'll be receiving new Martinique photos weekly. As often as those pictures come in, I will absolutely and proudly post them.
My special little friend, our friend Claudia, and I recently spent an afternoon in lovely Laguna Beach. While window shopping, I spotted the friskiest smiley mannequin ever. I didn't know they even made elated mannequins?
Gosh, I'll have what she's having. In contrast, would say that the calm, measured, and classy Martinique would never:
1. Be seen in that outfit.
2. Strike such a wacky pose.
3. Smile so widely that all her teeth would show.
There you have, Martinique leads by example. Thanks again to all of you who leave comments and send me private emails about my nephew and Martinique. These postings mean the most to me and am beyond thrilled that they're being received so well.

That crazy mannequin looks like Jessica Simpson in every pap shot of her out there. Poor girl needs a friend to tell her to shut her mouth.
I love how your waist looks tinier than Martinique's in the paillette top. And your nephew is going to be a top stylist someday. Those turquoise beads are the perfect pop of color for that outfit. Stacy and Clinton would be proud!

Gil, you are looking pretty hawt in that tank, for reals! And that mannequin? Ugh, take off the wig and give her an umbrella & you have Ms. Britney having a tantrum.
I hope your nephew feels better & is enjoying his new school. I'm also glad that all the dolls are getting along! Make new friend but keep the old and all..

Sorry, but Martinique is working it.

Martinique is sure working that sequin top. I am impressed with how much style ur nephew has in his 9 yr old body. He will totally be a top designer when he grows up.
Ummm...how do u keep ur waist so thin? lol.
Keep up the Martini postings. Its my main reason for coming on here.

Oh yes, I missed the fierceness that is Martinique!! This was a great pick me up after a stressful Monday.
PS: that scary mannequin looks like a 'real doll'

This just made my day! I'm getting my first real wig for halloween and thought of Martinique and your nephew when I was picking it out. I hope he's feeling better and can create some more awesome outfits for her.

Yeah! for your nephew and Martinique!
The dif between the two mannequins is the dif between Sarah and Tina! Or Paris, as that scary mannequin has some big-assed hands!
Speaking of hands, that is the only reason Martini rocks the look better, your hands look too studied. Otherwise, I think you look awesome!
And finally, thank you for recognising that Am girl dolls are in a cult. It may be pretty, but it's a cult nonetheless.

That second manequin is trailer trash compared to martinique haha. Why would anyone even make a manequin look like that, like maybe she's having a seizure or just stepped on a nail.
Anyways your nephew did such an excellent job with the ensemble! And I have to agree your waist is so tiny in that picture!
Thanks for posting :)

Martinique is wayyyy classier than that crazy blond mannequin. That thing would SCARE me! I'm torn on who looks better in that black sequined tank though, you did manage to stumble on some VERY good lighting. My favorite part of Martinique's get-up is the hat, set at a jaunty angle, love hats!
Tell your nephew that he is awesome and someday I want to be able to buy his stuff so that I can rock it like Martinique!

Thanks everyone for your comments!
MaMa Sarah: That other mannequin does look like Jessica Simpson! Too perfect of an example.
Kim: My nephew, fortunately, is feeling better. The care package worked like a charm. And I definitely agree, making new friends is fantastic but keeping the old ones are just as important.
Sarah: Martinique definitely wins!
Borg Queen: Love your name! I've been trying to not eat sugar lately, which sucks, but works on the waist line. My partner is a sugar monster so it's tough while he's chopping down on a bag of cookies. So far I've been good......... hope I can keep it up.
LeahLove: That totally looks like a real doll! Ah ha ha ha!!!!!!!
Stella: Congrats on your first wig! That's a milestone. Hope you enjoy and hope you will continue to acquire more. Have fun!
Vern: Yes, my nephew was elated over LeeAnn's victory. He even sent me a text saying, "I'm wearing glasses, have long hair, love making pedal- wavelike pleats, and I'm from Portland. Who am I?" I texted back "LeeAnne?" to which he answered, "duh!"
Aarong88: That top is very versatile. Dress it up... dress it down. I still think Martinique wears it better.
Nicki: That second mannequin is total trailer trash. I still can't believe they make ones that look so cheap. :) Gave me a chuckle though.
Wheresandre: First, great name! :) I know my nephew is going to be a successful designer one day. No question. Can't wait for his creations to hit the stores.
Thanks everyone.

Martinique, definitely--although I think some pantless (pixilated, of course!) of your pic would be great! Heh heh.

Eeek. McSmiley the manniquin looks like Ms Spears after one two many lattes from Starbucks.
As for the frock in question, I say it's a tie. M looks more glamourous, but you've got nicer shoulders. ;)

You look hawt. Martinique totally has it over on that Britney wannabe. Totally different class. JcPenney compared to I Magnin.

Hi David! Long time, eh? I love that your nephew has his own mannequin and dolls, that's so great his parents are allowing him to be who he is at such a young age!
I think you wore the sequined top best, you have beautiful skin.
BTW, I didn't realize you have a partner, and for 12 years no less. And here I was flirting shamelessly with you before... LOL!
I'm glad I checked in, I will be back more often.
