This would be posting number five on my nine year old nephew and his mannequin Martinique. As I mentioned Monday, I am visiting my sister's family all this week. The main reason I'm here is to paint a mural in my nephew's room and I'll be posting the finished image tomorrow. One of the best things about this visit is I'm getting to meet Martinique. She's quite something. At about 5'9" she has quite a commanding presence. My nephew up to this point has had a thorough commitment to American Girl dolls. He has four and just about every accessory possible. I asked him how his American Girl dolls were getting along with Martinique? He paused and said not so well. I asked if they were jealous and he nodded yes. :)
Martinique is definitely the focus of my nephew's creativity. She lives in his closet which is set up like a small studio. She has her own section of shoes, dresses, wigs, hats, scarfs, shawls, sweaters, and more. There's so much to tell about this visit and about him and about her but I need to take it all in and reflect over the weekend. I have a lot to do to finish his mural so I'm going to keep this fairly brief.
About the fifth outfit I was treated to my first day here was a flouncy floral number perfectly suited for a summer sail afternoon aboard a yacht. That's how I described it to my nephew and he agreed. So I'd like to present Martinique on the Mediterranean. Everyone else had to leave the deck because no one could compete with her beauty.

My nephew is a HUGE Project Runway fan. We watched a couple episodes yesterday and basically had the same opinion about every outfit and all the contestants. It's just too good for words. So I told him that I bet Martinique could easily become Tim Gunn's new muse and my nephew smiled.
While watching the shows we both did our best Heidi Klum impression. In her Elmer Fudd-ish accent we'd say, "One of you weeel be named the winner and the other weeel have to mop the wunway with your tears and eyewashes!"
That's that for now. Be expecting to see more Martinique next week.
Auf Wiedersehen!
