If you're at all familiar with my blog, then you certainly are aware of my freaky fascination with the Real Housewives of Orange County. Click on that link and you'll see page after page of cabernet soaked drawings. If you are new to my site, hello and welcome, and allow me to briefly explain. I love to pour myself a GIANT glass of cabernet, grab my TIVO remote control, put on The Real Housewives or another one of my reality TV favorites, hit pause, and do a quick pen sketch of what I see on the screen. It's my process for trying to understand why I'm so interested in these shows. I still haven't figured it out, so on I sketch.
I am new to the Bravo show Shear Genius. To be honest I've only seen a few minutes of one other episode, but while channel surfing the other evening I saw that The Real Housewives were to be on this week's Shear Genius. I couldn't resist. The reason I've only made it thru a few minutes of a previous Shear Genius episode is that Super Star, Color Genius, Color Master to Hollywood's A-list elite, Kim Vo is one of the judges. And I can't bare him.
Here's Kim Vo from Shear Genius.....
The brief moment I saw of that prior episode, Kim was going off on one of the contestants for their improper use of lo lights and I quickly changed the channel. Kim is also frequently on the most annoying entertainment news shows, The Daily 10, where he and Debbie Matenopolous discuss celebrity hair color. I refuse to link to that program, but google it if you'd like to see the most mind numbing, "Girlfriend, oh no she didn't" mound of crap.
The Housewives were for the most part pretty dull on the show. The only true stand out was my favorite, Vicky Gunvalson. I love her ear piercing shrieks, the way everyone in her presence looks scared, and the way she bosses her daughter around. She's the perfect Reality TV character as far as I'm concerned.
Here's my sweet Vicky Gunvalson mid makeover, mid panic attack, mid bossing around the stylist, mid yelling at her daughter and her daughter's stylist, and being perfectly Vicky.
And there you have it. Each sketch took between 15 to 20 minutes.

OMG...I forgot you did those HoOC sketches! Your Kim Vo is great! I'm running Blogging Shear Genius (http://bloggingsheargenius.blogspot.com) - can I include your illustrations in a post later this weekend? Credited, with lots of accolades, of course!

Haha Yess! It's all about Vicky Vicky Vicky! That sketch made me laugh so hard. How hilarious was it when they were talking about Kim and how he was "stylist to the stars" and then they were naming what celebrities hair he's done, and the first person they mention is Britney Spears. I pretty much died when I heard that, because they said it like it was a good thing. If I were him, I wouldn't put pictures of her hair for my portfolio, would you?

Oh, how I have missed your "drunken drawings!" How else would I ever have come to the realization that Kim Vo is a dead ringer for ET? Your Vicki was dead on as always. I can't believe even on "Shear Genius" she was micromanaging her daughter's hairstyle but that Vicki ended up with absolutely no change in her hairstyle! Hilarious! Hope you are having a fabulous summer.

WOW, you can do screen captures off the TV now? You are going to be DEADLY. To see your drawing compared to the screen capture you use will make things even BETTER!
As always, Fabu job!

OH GOD! Kim Vo!!! I despise him! He's such a moronic, vacuous turd. However, your fantastic drawing has made my afternoon. You captured him perfectly.

:) I'm glad you did a few sketches! Paolo is the owner of the hair salon I go to .. and I was sort of scared for my life when I was watching him cut Vicky's hair!

I am totally addicted to YOUR blog!!! I love to pour myself a huge glass of vino and scroll down through your work. Your depictions are exquisite. They make those otherwise bland shows interesting. You should be hired by one!

OMG. You should do an "If They Mated" of Kim Vo and Vicky!

Please don't do an "If They Mated". The result would be awful. I love your work and your blog, keep up the good work!
